Davis Meauex, 72 entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in Houston, Texas due to natural causes. He was born on August 27, 1944 in Opelousas, Louisiana to Sanders Loston and Ida Malveaux. Davis attended Willowstreet High School in Franklin, LA until 1964. After graduating high school he pursued his customer service skills as Head of Housekeeping with Hyatt Hotels. His career with Hyatt lasted for over 20 years.
Davis saw Miss Nellie Jeanlouis and was instantly taken. After convincing a friend to give him her number, he started his courtship. While speaking to her on the phone he quoted “Look up to the hills for which commeth your help and know all your help comes from God”; it was the beginning of their friendship. She invited him to join her at church and their history began. He convinced her to marry on February 15, 1985. They recently celebrated 33 years together.
Davis Meauex, a man of valor just like the bible speaks of King David: “A man after God’s own heart”. Davis was very active in his church, Greater Galilee M.B.C. under the leadership of Rev. R.M Sheperd, Pastor. He loved God’s work and offered his time and labor at church teaching Sunday school, eventually becoming the
Superintendent. He sang in the Choir, served on the usher board and was the Annual Host for the Usher’s Annual Workshop.
In 1986 Davis became a member of New Pleasant Grove M.B.C. under the leadership of the late Reverend Wiley Dunn. He and Nellie have been faithful members and only recently lost time as his health failed.
Davis was an awesome father and a great husband. He truly enjoyed being with his family. He will also be remembered for his great cooking skills; his specialty being smothered turkey necks. He loved his sweets too; carrot cake and sweet potato pie were his favorites.
One of his greatest attributes was how he communicated with people, especially his family. His slogan “I don’t waste my words”, so if he said it, he meant it.
Davis is preceded in death by his parents, Sanders Loston and Ida Malveaux, his son; Davis Meauex Jr., and 2 brothers; Sonny and Wilbert.
He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life, his wife, Nellie Meauex, four children; Tyla Eraikhuemen and husband Patrick, Darwin Balka, Tacia Bailey and husband Joseph and Tronotia Balka. One brother, Mitchell Malvous, four sisters; Willa Dugas, Urnell Johnson, Anna Mae Preston, Ella Mae Rogers, a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends.
