Obituary for Jack David Holt

Jack David Holt was born on March 30, 1932 to John Henry Holt and Florence Mae Stiber. Jack passed on June 5, 2017 with his family close by. He was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Jack was born and raised in New York and was a graduate from Southside High School in Elmira. He also joined the Army, 9th Infantry Division and was in Vehicle Mechanics. He was awarded medals for Good Conduct and National Defense. He lived in various places around the country in the eight years he was in the Army including Fort Dix, New Jersey, Fort Huachuca, Arizona and Fort Hood, Kileen, Texas. Jack started his service in the Army in May 1955 and ended in June 1964 after completing eight years in the Reserves. He was an avid reader of military books, especially Civil War era. He was an active participant of the Church Triumphant and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Jack had many trades including mechanic, traveling salesman, ship inspector, plant lab manager, car dealership courier and he finished his career out as a chemical inspector. He married Marilyn on April 10, 1954 in Lampasas, Texas and they lived in New York, Houston, Deer Park and La Porte, Texas with their three children, Ramona, Ronald and Ethan.

Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Marie Holt, his parents, John Henry Holt and Florence Mae Stiber, and his sisters, Lillian White and Virginia Aufhammer.

Jack is survived by his children, Ramona Scott, Ronald Holt, Ethan Holt (Anna), his grandchildren, Jason Stavinoha (Christi), Aaron Stavinoha (Kerry), Gordon Holt (Kimbree), Justin Holt, Amber Holt (Eric), Alize Holt, Ethan Austin Holt, great-grandchildren, Josh, Alex, Collin, Jack, Diego, Rocky, Ferris, Blane, & Skyler, as well as extended family & friends.
