Obituary for Shannon Lance Ivey

Shannon Lance Ivey was born August 4, 1969 in Houston, Texas to Melba Joyce (Copeland) and James Rodney Ivey. He had five brothers and sisters from his dad’s previous marriage; four brothers and sisters from his mother’s previous marriage; and one sister from both mom and dad. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He has lived in several towns in Texas including League City, Atlanta and La Porte. He graduated from Atlanta High School in 1987 in Atlanta, TX.

Shannon was a carpenter, a Journeyman and a Field Superintendent most recently for Interoil, a company out of Papua New Guinea, where he had been working for the last nine years. He also worked for John Brown, S&B Constructors, Brown & Root and General Petro Chem.

Shannon was married to Melanie Jean Mahana and had a son, Shannon Lance Ivey, Jr. A daughter, Elizabeth Ann Ivey was from a second marriage to Toni Lynn Simmons.

Shannon was an outdoors man who enjoyed hunting, 4 wheeling, Camping and working outside. He was also a bit of a jokester and liked to play pranks on family and friends.

He is preceded by his parents; Joyce and Rodney, his sister, Robin (Ivey) Brooking and brothers; Grant Larue Ivey and Joseph Michael Pergande.

Shannon is survived by his children, Lance Ivey and Elizabeth Ann Ivey. His siblings; Heather Amber Ivey, Beth Ann Treece, Lisa Gaye Payne, Shawn Patrick Pergande, Cheryl Virginia Smith, Keith Wayne Ivey, and Kenneth Russel Ivey. He will also be missed by extended family and friends.
