Obituary

Edward Leon McDaniel “Eddie” was born in Houston, Texas on January 27, 1963 to Dorothy Faye (Smith) and Elbert Douglas McDaniel. He grew up in the Pasadena area with his siblings and attended High School in Pasadena and Deer Park.

Eddie was a prankster that was always up for a laugh. He loved fishing, which of course includes a good beer; the Astros and Rockets, which also includes beer. He had a green thumb and enjoyed growing all things green. He hoped this would transfer over to scratch off tickets and the occasional trip to the Casino. Unfortunately the numbers didn't hit and he was still forced to earn a living. Fortunately Eddie really enjoyed his job with Austin Industrial. Before he decided to make an employment change in July of 2017, he worked as a maintenance contractor for Austin Industrial and S&B Plant Services out at the Lubrizol plant for 8 plus years where he made so many work relationships and friendships then he moved to the Lyondell's BYO site. He did manage to squeeze in a few other activities, like children and a wife and a final trip to Las Vegas in 2019.

Eddie was a fighter, but cancer won this round. He left us, finally at peace on Wednesday, October 28, 2020.

Eddie is preceded by his parents, Dorothy and Elbert McDaniel. His brothers: John, Doug and Ricky McDaniel and his sister, Faye McDaniel Bihm.

He leaves many to cherish his memory. His wife, Joy Ellen McDaniel; children, Brandon K McDaniel, Breeann J McDaniel, Kirbi Jo Lambert (son-in-law John Lambert); sisters, Mary McDaniel Dio, Linda McDaniel and granddaughter, Briley Emma Lambert. Eddie also leaves his mother and father-in-law, Nancy and John Davis; brother-in-law JP and wife Pricilla Davis, sisters-in-law, Patsy (and Eric) Hutzley, Jody (and Jeff) Lancaster, Christie (and Jason) Dent; many nieces and nephews extended family and friends, including a special friend and co-worker, Tim “Mac” O'Connor.

There were several that cheered Eddie on and helped with this fight. Thanks go out to many family and friends, many co-workers, the staff at Harbor Hospice. Special thanks to nurse “Tony”.

We celebrate his life and as Eddie would say, “Until we meet again, little fellows!” Share his story, and don't worry too much. Eddie would also say “Awe, let them make it! Everything works out!”

Oh, my goodness. I was just flipping through all the pictures & remembering what a character Eddie was. The world has lost a good man who was loved by so many. It's easy to see how much he loved his kids. Joy, I'm so grateful you have these beautiful memories of Eddie & the good times you had together. It's easy to see how much he loved you.

So many funny stories....

One of my favorite memories was when he called his mother when Breeann was born. Dorothy asked him what her name was & he said they named her Moeesha. Dorothy was no doubt stunned.... what kind of name is THAT? Followed by lots of laughter.

Another time, we went to visit & his shins were all cut up. He told us all about the raccoon that was in the back yard & when he tried to get him out of the yard, it attacked him & clawed his legs up. I was like.... OMG!! What if it had rabies!!?? Come to find out, he WAS in the back yard when it happened but that was the only truth to the story. The weedeater got away from him & whacked his legs.

There are no words to express the sadness I feel for you, Joy, and for Brandon and Breeann.
Eddie will be remembered & loved for as long as time.

Wishing for all of you.... a quiet mind and a peaceful heart.

Love,
Joy

I remember going to spend the night with Mary and watching Eddie play with a puppy and the puppy was licking him in the face. Eddie was laughing at just loved playing with that puppy. I don't know why that memory stuck in my head cause there's so many other memories, to me that shows what a good heart he had. Of course, I saw him many other times throughout his life and he always said hi with a big hug. He's certainly going to be missed. I'm sure he knew how loved he was. Prayers for the family. ❤
