Teri Lynn McKinney was born March 14, 1962 in Bernice, LA to Shirley and Floyd Martindale. One of 4 sisters. Her parents moved the girls to La Porte many years ago when Floyd got a job at the railroad. She attended the La Porte schools, as well as San Jacinto College and grew to be a lovely young woman.
On July 4, 1980, she married her best friend and “the boy next door”, Mike McKinney. They were married at the home of her parents in La Porte, TX.
Mike and Teri were parents of one son, Michael McKinney.
Michael McKinney had three children; Michael McKinney III, Briana Alverado and Aubrey McKinney,. Three grandchildren for Teri to love.
In the 1980’s she worked at the high school cafeteria. She worked as a bartender at several different locations and was also at several restaurants. She was a waitress at Waffle House at the time of her death. Teri was a former member of Eagles Lodge. She was active in doing benefits to raise money for different causes. She loved to read, loved pets especially Red and Bitsy , and enjoyed time with her grandchildren.
Teri was preceded by her parents and a sister, Kerren Frederick. She is survived by her best friend, Mike McKinney, her son, Michael McKinney and the grandchildren she was so proud of; Michael, Briana and Aubrey. She is also survived by two sisters; Sherry Klataska, Tammy Baker and Mother-in- law, Almeda McKinney. Many nieces, nephews, cousins extended family and friends will miss her dearly.
We will all cherish her memory and character that could sum up Teri Lynn; compassionate, loving and considerate.
